(mt) Media Temple is proud to announce
the opening of its new mission-critical data center space in El Segundo.
Beginning in early 2006 (mt) Media Temple began build-out of a new mission-critical data center space (EL-IDC3) to house its next generation hosting technology and to facilitate the company's projected growth of customers. With a Tier 4 ranking (the highest in the industry for security, cooling, and power redundancy) the data center was (mt) Media Temple's first choice for continued expansion.
We are making this special announcement to address recent cooling and power concerns developing in other facilities currently occupied by (mt) Media Temple - most notably the (LA-IDC2) data center in downtown Los Angeles. To prevent any future potential of instability, we have expanded our footprint in the exclusive Tier 4 (EL-IDC3) center and have developed a migration plan so that all Los Angeles based customers can benefit from this superior facility. (Please see migration details below.)
More about the Data Center (EL-IDC3)
The Tier 4 center is owned by the highly regarded 365 Main Corporation and was built to surpass current operational standards in the hosting industry. This mission-critical data center is managed by highly regarded data center and network management veterans, Net2ez. The data center is the only type in the region that was designed and built by top architects, engineers and consultants to reach four tiers of safety, security, cooling, and power redundancy. Some customers may want to to learn more about the facility on our website.
Data center migrations
In upcoming weeks (mt) Media Temple will announce specific migration schedules to customers who have servers planned for relocation to (EL-IDC3). Migrations do not require direct involvement by customers and will occur during off-peak hours in several phases to minimize disruption to ongoing service. Detailed plans have been made to ensure smooth communications and operations during each phase. In addition to the announcements we will also be maintaining a special support section of our website which will contain additional information and FAQ's regarding the planned migrations.
Summary
For (mt) Media Temple the new El Segundo installation addresses not only a company concern, but an industry-wide issue relating to over-subscribed cooling, and power facilities. Our customers can be assured now more than ever that (mt) Media Temple will continue to choose the best-of-class in server hardware, technical staff and also the most sophisticated buildings and data centers facilities in existence. Although the costs associated with operating inside a Tier 4 facility are greater by many times, we see this plan as the only option to maintain our principles of delivering the highest quality service possible.
